Presentation guidelines

Oral presentations

Oral presentations are to be no more than 12 minutes in length. Each presentation will be followed by a short question period before transitioning to the next speaker. Please respect the other speakers in your session and do not go over your allotted time.

We ask that speakers upload their presentations the day before the scheduled presentation in your presentation room. Please bring your slides on a portable drive or USB key in .ppt, .pptx, or .pdf format. We cannot guarantee that the AV systems will support any software platforms other than MS PowerPoint and AA Reader. We also cannot guarantee the stability of the internet connection at the conference venue, so presenters are advised to avoid incorporating online content into their presentations.

Poster presentations

Posters are to be printed in portrait orientation, no larger than 36” (92cm) wide and 44” (112 cm) tall, as shown in the figure below.

Poster presenters are expected to mount their posters starting on Sunday, October 16 at 4:00 pm in the Colony Ballroom, and to be present at their posters at two times:

  1. ALL posters: Sunday October 16, 5:30-7:00pm
  2. ODD poster numbers: Monday October 17, morning and afternoon coffee breaks; EVEN poster numbers: Tuesday October 18, morning and afternoon coffee breaks

Presenters should be prepared to describe their research and field questions from other conference attendees. It is hoped that the overlap with the conference opening reception will encourage lively discussion among attendees.

Panel and workshop presentations

Please contact the chair of your panel or workshop session for guidance on presentation length and content.
